Basic Performance |
Both XLPE and FRP perform extremely well as brine saturators. Each can be expected to provide long term performance (10+ years). |
Lead Time |
In this area, XLPE is generally going to have an advantage. Lead times (ARAD) are going to run about 4-5 weeks vs. 8-10 weeks for FRP. However, always let us know your delivery requirements as we may be able to improve on either material. |
Warranty |
Our XLPE vessels carry a 3 year warranty while our FRP vessels carry a 1 year warranty. Please let us know your project requirements if these are insufficient. |
Pricing |
The size of your vessel and the optional features selected can skew the comparison, but in general, an XLPE BrineMaker will run 10% - 20% less than FRP. |
Side Manway |
The SS side manway on an XLPE vessel is mechanically attached, while the side manway on an FRP vessel is laid-up/bonded – advantage FRP. |
Seismic Design |
On an XLPE vessel, the seismic restraint system consists of independent lateral restraint lugs and cable wind restraints. On an FRP vessel, the anchor lugs are filament wound into the vessel – advantage FRP. |
Pipe Supports |
On an XLPE vessel, the pipe supports are either independent SS structures or wall penetrations. On an FRP vessel, the pipe supports are laid-up/bonded to the vessel wall – advantage FRP. |
Sizes |
XLPE vessels are molded in “female” molds and vessel size is limited by the size of the oven – 16,500 gallons is currently our largest vessel. FRP vessels are made on “male” molds and molds can be modified to create a unique diameter and individual sections can be joined to create very tall vessels – advantage FRP. |
